How to install plugins.

Step-by-step instructions for installing and managing extensions in Audion on Windows, macOS, and Linux.

Launch Audion

Open Audion on your desktop. Ensure you are running version 1.2.0 or newer to access the in-app Plugin Manager.

Open the Plugin Manager

Click the Settings icon in the sidebar, then select 'Plugins' from the left navigation panel.

Browse or search extensions

Search for plugins by name or filter by category (Integration, Utility, Theme). Review declared permissions before installing.

Install in one click

Click 'Install' on any plugin card. Audion automatically downloads and unpacks the plugin sandbox. No application restart required.

Enable the plugin

Toggle the plugin on using the switch. If the extension provides configurable settings, click the gear icon to configure API keys or options.

Access plugin drawers

For active user interface plugins (such as synchronized lyrics or visualizers), click the puzzle icon in the bottom player bar to slide open the view.

Install from URL (advanced)

For community plugins outside the default registry, select 'Install from URL', enter the raw GitHub repository URL, and confirm installation.

Frequently asked questions

Where are plugins stored on disk?

Plugins reside in your local Audion user data directory: %APPDATA%\Audion\plugins on Windows, ~/Library/Application Support/Audion/plugins on macOS, and ~/.config/Audion/plugins on Linux.

Can I install plugins manually without the registry?

Yes. Copy the plugin directory (containing its valid plugin.json manifest) into the plugins storage folder, then click Refresh in the in-app Plugin Manager.

How do I update an installed plugin?

When a new release tag is published to the registry, an 'Update' button appears next to the plugin in the Plugin Manager. Clicking it replaces files and reloads the sandbox.

How do I remove a plugin completely?

Click the trash icon next to any plugin in the Plugin Manager. Audion cleans up the extension files and unregisters all hooks immediately.

What should I do if a plugin fails to load?

Disable and re-enable the plugin to restart its sandbox. If errors persist, verify declared permissions and inspect the plugin's GitHub repository issue tracker.
